About winditup2012

Whitireia New Zealand proudly presents ‘Wind It Up’, the annual graduate exhibition of contemporary Visual Art & Design. The work of final year students in the Bachelor of Applied Arts programme offered at the Porirua campus will be exhibited at Pataka Museum of Cultural Arts, Porirua and is open for public viewing from 15 December 2012 until 13 January 2013. Curated by Mark Hutchins, this is an opportunity to see work by exciting and promising new local and international artists to emerge from New Zealand. The exhibition will showcase various media ranging from paintings to textiles, photography to jewellery and print to design - offering a vision of art that is culturally engaged, ethically aware and environmentally inclusive. “The program has been able to broaden our visual, aesthetic, as well as our intellectual faculties in the pursuit of careers as upcoming studio-based contemporary artists. What makes this year exceptionally exciting is the fact that we also explore influential real life issues, from water pollution caused by textile manufacturing; the smoking-cancer relationship; to ethical dilemmas in veterinary practice,” says graduating textiles student, Patricia Nurchandra. Entry to the exhibition is free.
